History & Purpose

The mission of Cornerstone's concert program is to bring a cross-platform of the industry's best local, regional and national artists to the Cornerstone community. Since April of 2000, Cornerstone has accomplished this goal repeatedly and established itself as one of Kankakee's premier, cutting-edge music venues. It's an exciting time in Cornerstone's history; a time that proves music does matter.

Cornerstone held its first concert on July 15, 2000. In its short history, Cornerstone has continued to leave an indelible stamp on the hearts and souls of the people of Kankakee. Over the years Cornerstone has been host to many diverse and incredible musical acts including Skillet, Pillar, Earthsuit, Pete Stewart, The Benjamin Gate and many others, as well as many emerging artists working their way through the local live music scene.

Over the years, Cornerstone has also hosted several national tours including The Fireproof Tour, The Artofficial Tour, The "Stay" Tour, The Tooth and Nail Tour and many others, as well as numerous local benefits and fundraisers for charitable organizations.

The Cornerstone concert venue has a 500-person capacity for seated shows and 1,000-person capacity for standing room only shows. The multi-purpose room is comfortable, beautiful and built for sound. There are two giant screen monitors that offer patrons a live, close-up view of the stage show and a full service concession window for snacks. For smaller concerts, round tables are provided with candlelight to provide an intimate, friendly atmosphere.

As the industry has grown and changed so has Cornerstone. We have worked harder to bring better and more diverse acts to town. We have risen to take our place among the area's finest live music venues, and have created an exciting and friendly place to enjoy live events.
